What is XERA and what is it for in a law firm?
XERA is an operational artificial intelligence assistant for law firms in Spain. It is not case-management software: it is an AI layer that automates inbox management (including court notifications), warns of court deadlines, finds documents in case files in seconds, drafts communications to clients and answers repetitive queries. It connects to the tools you already use, without changing them (if your tool has an API, we connect it).
How is XERA different from legal practice-management software?
Legal practice-management software is a legal CRM for managing case files, billing and the client portfolio. XERA is the AI layer that operates on top of it: it reads your inbox and prioritises urgent court notifications, extracts deadlines from each court notification, searches documents in your drive and email, and answers clients over WhatsApp and email. They are complementary tools: the practice-management software handles the case files and XERA handles the day-to-day operations.
Does XERA integrate with LexNET?
XERA works with the LexNET notifications that reach your email: it reads them, summarises them and warns you of the deadlines. If your law firm has an access route with an API, we connect it. What it does NOT do: it does not log into LexNET, does not download for you and does not file briefs. That step is still carried out by a person with their certificate.
How much does XERA cost for a law firm?
Small firms (1-3 lawyers): XERA Starter plan from €208/month. Medium-sized firms: XERA Team plan, €408/month. Large or multi-office firms: XERA Enterprise plan from €810/month, with a personalised proposal after the demo. Two things are added to the fee, and we say so here and not on the second invoice: the setup fee, €1,200 one-off (€1,000 excl. VAT if you pay the annual fee in advance), and your Claude subscription, from Anthropic, which you take out in your own name —Max 5×, $100/month, Anthropic's price, which may change—; it does not go through us and we add no margin. Initial commitment of 3 months.
Does it replace the management software I already have?
It depends on what you have. If you use case-management software that works for you, XERA sits on top of it and, if it has an API, we connect it. If what you have is folders, Excel and email, XERA can be the system. What we do not do is force you to migrate in order to start.
What about professional secrecy and my clients' data?
Our server is in Finland (Hetzner). Proxera acts as data processor and your law firm remains the controller: we sign the corresponding contract before connecting anything. Providers and international transfers are detailed in our privacy policy (Spanish only). If you stop working with us, your data is exported and deleted.
Does the AI draft briefs that I then sign?
It drafts from the case file data and your own templates. It does not invent case law or cite rules you have not given it. What comes out is a starting point that a lawyer reviews and signs — just as a trainee would produce, and with the same level of review.
Can I keep using my legal research databases?
Yes, and we do not touch them. XERA does not connect to any legal database and does not search case law for you. XERA takes care of what surrounds it —email, the deadlines that arrive by notification, finding the document in the case file, answering the client who asks where their matter stands—, which is where the time you cannot bill goes.
Who answers if a deadline is missed?
The law firm, just as today. XERA warns; it does not answer for you and it is not a substitute for your own deadline control. XERA reads the notifications that arrive in your email, so if a notification does not reach the mailbox —because forwarding failed or the configuration changed— XERA does not see it. That is why the alerts go out ahead of each deadline, and why we do not take human control out of the middle.
Does the AI reply to my clients without me seeing it?
Only if you decide so, and it is configured before anything is switched on. The usual set-up in a law firm is that it answers the repetitive things —case file status, missing documents, how to book an appointment— and that everything else stays as a draft for a lawyer to review. Nothing sent in your name is invisible to you: the full thread is kept.
What if we are a small law firm?
That is where it shows the most. When there are two or three of you, there is nobody to delegate the administration to: it is done by the same person who bills the hour. Every hour XERA takes away is a billable hour that comes back.
Which part of running the law firm does XERA take on, and which stays yours?
